Foreign NGOs in International Philanthropy

Forming an alliance with a foreign NGO can be one of the most effective and most rewarding practices in international philanthropy. The introduction of new communications media, and the growing sophistication of foreign NGOs, make dynamic partnerships not only possible, but palpable. Over the next year, IDD will be upgrading this page.

Francisco Foundation
The Francisco Foundation raises funds to provide institutional support to small and medium sized environmental groups in Brazil. If, as writer-activist Arundhati Roy suggests, we are moving into the Century of the Small, then Franciso Foundation's small grants program will become the model of effective grantmaking.

Both Ends Foundation
Both Ends, a Dutch NGO, works on strengthening environmental NGOs in developing countries. The Dutch continue to play a consistent and progressive role in international philanthropy. The Dutch government provides support for NGO activities abroad, giving these organizations the capacity to mount significant programs and work smoothly with donors from other countries.

Sustainability Web Ring
Over 100 NGOs mainly based in Europe, dealing with environment, poverty and distribution of global wealth.
